Sefton Council WW1 exhibition

Royal_Irish_Rifles_ration_party_Somme_July_1916Sefton Council has produced a commemorative World War One exhibition which will be on display throughout the borough in the coming months.

Working closely with Sefton CVS and local volunteers, Sefton’s Library Service has produced the impressive exhibition which will first go on display at Southport Library in The Atkinson at the end of July.

Funded by a Heritage Lottery grant, and with additional support from The Strand Shopping Centre, Bootle, a fifteen panel exhibition and an information booklet has been produced telling the story of Sefton’s contribution and sacrifice during the Great War.

Information about the home front, local hospitals and the famous poets who trained in the area is all included.

It will also tell the individual stories of the seven local men who were awarded the Victoria Cross for valour ‘in the face of the enemy’.Read More
